Acupuncture
A component of Eastern medicine, acupuncture is the art and science of stimulating the body’s own natural healing processes. Acupuncture needles are typically not much thicker than a strand of hair. Once the needles are in place, your body may tingle or feel warm. Many patients fall asleep or feel relaxed. Some say they feel a brief sensation as the needle is placed in the skin, but this passes quickly.
Once a week is usually the minimum required to make progress; and two, even three times weekly, can increase the benefits. The number of treatments depends on the condition. If the condition is acute, one treatment may be needed. If it is chronic, 5 to 12 treatments may be necessary. The practitioner may also suggest diet and lifestyle changes.
